SHOWCASING PAGE - SANTI HERRANZ
The Land of the Rising Sun.
For Santi, the photos taken while on the move – far from the familiar – have always been the ones that mean the most.
In 2021, Santi was dispatched to Japan and had the unique opportunity to work at the Tokyo Olympics.
During a short break, he and a few friends decided to climb Mt. Fuji.
They didn’t really have a plan – just the idea of seeing the sunrise from the summit. They spent the night in an odd little hut partway up, then woke at 3 a.m. to continue the climb.
In the cold of the night, after a couple of hours of climbing, the light began to appear, and the colors started to paint the sky around them. Red first, then orange. As they reached the summit, the sun emerged from between the clouds for only a few minutes before hiding again.
They were 3,776 meters above sea level and understood why Japan is called the Land of the Rising Sun. Santi took the opportunity, and the result was this amazing photograph.
Moments like this one are the reason why Santi takes photographs – to keep hold of what would otherwise drift away.
Thank you, Santi, for sharing such a wonderful photograph with us and for taking part in our journey.
